DESCRIPTION:

The Cybersecurity Architect IV is a critical technical leader responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining secure and robust cybersecurity architectures across the organization. This role requires deep technical expertise, a strong understanding of industry’s best practices, and the ability to translate business requirements into effective security solutions. They will work closely with other technical teams and stakeholders to ensure that security is embedded in all aspects of the IT environment.

  • Design and implement secure architectures for on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments
  • Develop and maintain security architecture diagrams, documentation, and standards
  • Evaluate and recommend new security technologies and solutions
  • Conduct security reviews of existing systems and applications
  • Provide expert guidance on security best practices and industry standards
  • Lead and participate in security-focused projects, providing technical expertise and guidance
  • Collaborate with project managers and other stakeholders to ensure that security requirements are met
  • Develop and maintain project plans, timelines, and budgets
  • Conduct threat modeling exercises to identify potential security risks
  • Perform risk assessments to evaluate the likelihood and impact of security threats
  • Develop and implement mitigation strategies to address identified risks
  • Stay abreast of emerging security threats and technologies, research and evaluate new security tools and techniques, and contribute to the development of innovative security solutions
  • Take directions from the Cyber Services Team Lead
  • Mentor and Direct subordinate Cyber Services Team staff

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BA/BS in IT/Cybersecurity/Computer Science or related field (HS and 4 years of additional experience or AS and 2 years of additional experience may be exchanged in lieu of BA/BS)
  • 12 years total experience (Relevant Master’s Degree may be exchanged for 2 years’ experience credit or a relevant PhD may be exchanged for 4 years’ experience credit)
  • 7 years relevant position-specific experience
  • Deep understanding of security architecture principles and frameworks (e.g., SABSA, NIST Cybersecurity Framework)
  • Extensive knowledge of network security, cloud security, endpoint security, data security, and application security
  • Hands-on experience with a wide range of security technologies (firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM, EDR, etc.)
  • Strong understanding of security protocols and standards (e.g., TCP/IP, TLS, OAuth, SAML)
  • Experience with scripting and automation (e.g., Python, PowerShell).
  • DoD 8570 IASAE Certification.
  • Ability to work independently and in an agile, collaborative team environment
  • Active US Government Clearance at Secret level or higher
  • Effective written and verbal communications skills for collaboration with both customers and fellow team members
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time and regularly lift at least 25 pounds
  • Ability to commute to the designated onsite work location as required

DESIRED ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Relevant industry standard certifications such as:
  • Cloud platform certifications (AWS, Azure)
  • Security certification (Security+, CASP, CISSP)
  • Tool certifications (Tenable Security Center Specialist, Tanium Certified Administrator, ServiceNow Certified System Administrator)
  • 7+ years of experience in a cybersecurity role, with at least 3+ years in security architecture or design capacity
  • Master's degree in Information Technology/Cybersecurity/Computer Science or related field

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Strategy & Planning
  • Design and implement short- and long-term strategic plans to make certain network capacity meets existing and future requirements.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and associated training plans for network resource administration and appropriate use.
  • Develop and deploy methodologies for testing network performance and providing network performance statistics and reports.
  • Conduct research on emerging technologies in support of network development efforts and recommend technologies that will increase cost effectiveness and network flexibility.
  • Develop, document, make recommendations, and communicate plans for investing in network technologies, including analysis of cost reduction opportunities.
  • Participate in the development of network strategies in collaboration with the executive team.

  • Acquisition & Deployment
  • Plan, acquire, and coordinate installation of in-house and remote network devices and appliances across the organization’s network.
  • Design company LANs, WANs, VMs, virtual networks, and wireless networks, including servers, routers, hubs, switches, UPSs, and other devices.
  • Oversee new and existing equipment, hardware, and software upgrades.
  • Interact with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure network products and services.

  • Operational Management
  • Establish and maintain regular written and in-person communications with the organization’s executives, decision-makers, stakeholders, department heads, and end users regarding pertinent network activities.
  • Conduct feasibility studies for various upgrade projects, improvements, and other conversions.
  • Configure networks to ensure their smooth and reliable operation for fulfilling business objectives and processes.
  • Monitor network performance and troubleshoot problem areas as needed.
  • Oversee installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of end user workstation hardware, software, and peripheral devices.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in IT or Computer Science
  • The equivalent combination of education and successful work experience (15 years) and
  • Cisco Certification in specialized areas is required.

  • 10 years’ experience managing, developing, and delivering strategic network architectural design and operational excellence.
  • 10 years’ experience designing enterprise-wide LANs, WANs, WLANs, VPNs, VMs, virtual networks, etc.
  • Excellent knowledge of current protocols and standards
  • Experience designing and implementing Routers, Switches, Firewalls, Security Software
  • Strong knowledge of scaled systems, ability to identify problem areas, uphold network quality, and drive design
  • Expert on WAN, LAN, and Wi-Fi technology
  • Strong knowledge of IT security requirements and experience working with information security
  • Experience with Lean IT concepts
  • Experience with Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL)
  • Knowledge and understanding of system flow charts, traffic flow, and data processing concepts.
  • Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
  • Extensive experience with developing strategic plans.
  • Exceptional analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Exceptional understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives.
  • Proven experience with network capacity planning, network security principles, and general network management best practices.

Required Qualifications:

  • An understanding of Enterprise Identity & Access Management in some of the following areas:
  • Privileged Access Management (PAM)
  • Identity Governance & Administration
  • Single Sign-On
  • Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
  • Authentication protocols such as Kerberos, OpenID Connect (OIDC,) OAuth, SAML, AD-Fed, API Gateways, SCIM, etc.
  • Experience implementing and maintaining modern IAM solutions such as Delinea Secret Server, Delinea Privilege Manager, CyberArk Privileged Access Manager, SailPoint IGA, Saviynt, Ping Identity, BeyondTrust, Duo, etc.
  • Proficient in Privileged Access Management (PAM) concepts and standard processes
  • Proficiency in system design principles, including scalability, performance, and security
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Effective interpersonal abilities for building relationships
  • Demonstrated proficiency in project and time management skills
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
