POSITION OVERVIEW

The Security Operations Center (SOC) Manager is a highly influential leadership role, responsible for defining, shaping, and continuously maturing MAD Security’s Security Operations Center (SOC) services. This position is not just about managing operations—it is about leading a high-performing security team, ensuring world-class service delivery, operational efficiency, and compliance while setting the vision for SOC growth and continuous improvement.

The SOC Manager is accountable for the overall success of SOC services, ensuring exceptional service quality, process optimization, and strategic execution. This role demands strong leadership skills, executive-level communication abilities, and a commitment to fostering a high-performance security culture.

  • Provide strong, motivational leadership to the SOC team, ensuring alignment with MAD Security’s mission and values.
  • Foster a high-performance culture by mentoring, coaching, and developing SOC personnel.
  • Ensure clear delegation of responsibilities, empowering team members while maintaining accountability.

  • Establish KPIs, metrics, and reporting structures to monitor and improve SOC performance.
  • Oversee incident response workflows, ensuring smooth escalation and resolution.
  • Own and ensure the success of SOC client services, ensuring high-quality service delivery.
  • Act as an escalation point for SOC-related client issues, providing strategic resolution.
  • Guide SOC teams in delivering clear, valuable security insights while optimizing client engagement strategies.
  • Work closely with MAD Security leadership to enhance SOC service offerings and improve client satisfaction.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership, delivering security insights and SOC performance updates.
  • Provide clear, concise, and impactful security briefings, reports, and presentations to executives, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Ensure effective communication at all levels, from SOC analysts to board members and government leaders.
  • Ensure SOC services align with DFARS, CMMC, and NIST 800-171 compliance requirements.
  • Oversee audit preparation, security assessments, and regulatory reporting.
  • Develop and maintain SOC policies and governance frameworks that align with best practices.
  • Lead SOC-related projects, ensuring the successful implementation of security technologies and service enhancements.
  • Drive continuous process improvement, ensuring optimized incident response, automation, and workflow efficiency.
  • Develop cross-functional collaboration between SOC, compliance, and engineering teams.

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of cybersecurity experience, with at least 3+ years in a SOC leadership role.
  • Proven experience managing security teams, optimizing workflows, and scaling SOC operations.
  • Expertise in SOC automation, SIEM/XDR platforms, and security orchestration (SOAR).
  • Strong understanding of NIST 800-171, DFARS, and CMMC compliance requirements.
  • Executive-level communication skills, capable of influencing key stakeholders and presenting high-impact security insights.

  • Enforce the design and implementation of trusted relations among external systems and architectures.
  • Helps facilitate and prioritize interactions between CSPs and Government entities to prioritize the review of authorization packages.
  • Plans daily activities within the guidelines of company policy, job description and supervisor’s instruction in such a way as to maximize personal output.
  • Responsible for aiding in own self-development by being available and receptive to all training made available by the company.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer, Electrical, or Electronics Engineering, or Mathematics with a concentration in computer science or equivalent; and depending on PWS tasking
  • Certified as Information Assurance Management (IAM) or Information Assurance Technical (IAT) or Information Assurance System Architect and Engineer (IASAE) Level I (position-based) per DoD 8570.1M and subsequent DoD 8140 manual, as applicable.

Experience:

  • Ten (10) years of notable experience preparing, implementing, and ensuring compliance with cybersecurity policy, to include Assessment and Authorization requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Drive the overall post-sales engagement with the customers for Technical Support. Mature a tiered support model across a global support organization that delivers follow-the-sun 24x7x365 support coverage.
  • Develop and execute customer support SOPs and Runbooks for customer issue remediation.
  • Build and lead a team of talented support engineers.
  • Balance the sales acumen for customer relationship management with deep technical skills in areas, such as Data Privacy and Security (DLP, Encryption, Access, Classification etc), SQL/NoSQL databases, Linux and Bash scripting, Networking and OSI model, Filesystems, Cloud Platforms, Docker/Kubernetes containers, and Virtualization. Prior technical support experience with a Data Privacy and Security company as well as Cloud Security is highly desirable.
  • Institute and develop support dashboards and operational metrics by leveraging CRM, Support systems, and DevOps system, with a specific focus on customer SLAs, CSAT and NPS metrics.
  • Interface with engineering and product management to provide a feedback loop that includes repeatable IP in the form of implementation tools, customer insights, support knowledgebase and quality improvements. Formalize and drive customer issue escalation process, with compliant internal SLAs between Support and Engineering organizations.
  • Interface with sales and marketing for smooth transition from pre-sales to post-sales, ensuring customer lifecycle continuity, thereby minimizing churn and maximizing customer LTV.
  • Drive a P&L business plan for post-sales support, including forecasting budgets and financial plans.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field with 7+ years of work experience as a manager of technical support.
  • In-depth understanding of technical support processes, playbooks and metrics.
  • Hands-on experience with people management, project management and budgeting. Demonstrated success with hiring and developing technical support organizations.
  • Proficiency in one or more Support systems, such as Zendesk.
  • Executive presence with excellent communication and leadership skills, and a proven track-record of collaborative success with customers, vendors, staff and internal business partners.
  • Deep understanding of Data Privacy and Security (DLP, Encryption, Access, Classification etc), SQL/NoSQL databases, Linux and Bash scripting, Networking and OSI model, Filesystems, Cloud Platforms, Docker/Kubernetes containers, and Virtualization, is a strong plus. NOTE: This role requires very strong hands-on technical skills and leadership.
