The City of Mesa’s Department of Innovation and Technology (DoIT) is hiring a Cybersecurity Information Technology (IT) Engineer I that will provide a high level of skilled technical services and support a variety of areas within the Security team. This position will report to the IT Manager in Security.

The Engineer I class assigned to Security provides skilled technical services in support of installation, configuration, testing, integration, and ongoing support for City applications or infrastructure within the technical support area of Security.

About the Ideal Candidate: The ideal candidate will have two plus years of experience in Cybersecurity. Strong sense of professionalism and ethics; have good technical skills and the aptitude to work independently; have very good verbal and written communication skills including presenting to large groups of people; three to five years implementing enterprise-wide security solutions; experience in Splunk, PCI Scanning, tools, and remediation plans; experience with Palo Alto UTM or next generation firewalls; experience with application scanning tools; familiarity with network architecture concepts, IDS/IPS, PCI compliance, Security log analysis, network scanning, and business user customer service experience; and have a good working knowledge of network and server fundamentals. Additionally, some experience with SMTP and SIP messaging using Microsoft based technologies will be a plus.

  • Performing work on one or more assignments simultaneously, such as configuration, development, integration, testing, and resolution of problems for systems.
  • Assessing, troubleshooting, and following established guidelines in escalation of hardware, software, and networking problems.
  • Initiating and/or maintaining Incident Reports (IRs) using an online incident management system.
  • Preparing and/or updating system documentation.
  • Controlling changes in system environments to ensure stable and reliable delivery of computer resources.
  • Developing and analyzing data for the purposes of problem resolution and strategic planning.
  • Implementing, maintaining, and monitoring operating systems and related subsystems.
  • Participating in projects and leading small projects and activities related to City computer systems, data, and infrastructure.
  • Participating in the design of programs and installing and/or implementing information systems.
  • Designing, developing, and implementing processes, procedures, and strategies for systems that function or communicate across multiple platforms.
  • Supporting computing processes executed across multiple platforms and/or networks.
  • Utilizing forecasting, trend analysis, monitoring, and reporting tools.
  • Project management duties including estimating task duration and complexity, developing work plans, and scheduling target completion dates.
  • Informing customer and management of project status.
  • Coordinating efforts of team members.
  • Reviewing adherence to policies and procedures.
  • Reviewing results with and motivating team members.
  • Ensuring all work is done in alignment with City and IT long-term strategies.

Minimum Qualifications Required. Any combination of training, education, and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with an Associate's Degree in Computer Science, or a related field, such as Engineering or Geography. Considerable (3 - 5 years) computer systems experience in at least one of the following technical support areas: Applications, Database, Desktop, GIS, Help Desk, Network, Security, Server, Service Desk, Telecommunications, or Web.

Special Requirements. For this position, an individual receiving a conditional offer of employment from the City of Mesa must pass a background investigation through the City of Mesa Police Department, the Arizona Department of Public Safety, and Federal Bureau of Investigation prior to commencing employment with the City of Mesa. Because of the confidential, sensitive nature of information handled, successful completion of a background investigation is required. Must possess a valid Class D Arizona Driver’s License by hire or promotion date.

  • The Major Account Manager will be responsible for consultative selling and solution development efforts that best address large enterprise customer needs within a targeted list of traditional Life Sciences and Medical Device manufacturers within the territory (New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland and Washington DC)
  • You will identify, develop and close sales opportunities across the Arista product portfolio including Data Center, Campus and AI Networking platforms including our Cloud based WI-FI and POE switches. In addition, the product portfolio includes the Arista Routing Platform, Cloud Vision (network automation & telemetry), and our DMF Fabric Monitoring, NDR, Endpoint and AI-driven Network Identity Management solutions.
  • Establishing productive, professional relationships with key personnel in assigned agencies
  • Creating and executing targeted account plans in concert with partner managers and sales engineering team.
  • Establish customer demand through pre-engagement planning, research, and solution alignment to mission.
  • Manage and align year 1 to year 3 business priorities across a named account territory.
  • Create a marketing plan aligned with Life Sciences accounts and territory.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree (BA/BS, CS, BBA) or equivalent
  • A minimum of 10+ years of Sales experience with a focus on developing large major Fortune 500 customers.
  • Recent knowledge and strong customer relationships within customers in the Life Sciences vertical.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills to lead both internal cross functional teams within Engineering, Legal, Marketing and external partners.
  • Proven navigation of End User requirements definition through the contracting and resale processes is mandatory.
  • Working knowledge of networking (Route, Switch, SDN, SD-WAN, Campus Networks, Network Virtualization, NFV), data center, and/or network automation solutions are prerequisites.
  • Demonstrated people skills and ability to cultivate and maintain relationships at all levels.
  • Proven track record of building business plans, documenting the processes, and exceeding sales targets.
  • Travel to our customers and regional partners within the territory

Compensation Disclosure

The compensation offered for this position will depend on qualifications, experience, and work location. For candidates who receive an offer at the posted level, the starting base salary (for non-sales roles) or base salary + commission target (for sales/commissioned roles) is expected to be between $212000 - $291000/YR.
